Transform Your Space
Installing Huggleberry Hill's peel-and-stick wallpaper is a walk in the park. Just follow our easy installation instructions below and witness your walls undergo a remarkable transformation.
How to Install Your Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper
1. Unpack Your Huggleberry Hill Wallpaper
When you receive your wallpaper delivery, carefully unpack the panels and recycle the packaging. Unroll the panels flat and allow an hour or two for them to uncurl which will make the installation process easier. If the panels need a little help staying flat on the floor, you can use clean, heavy items like books placed gently at either end.
2. Check Your Wall Texture
For the best results, we suggest sticking to smooth walls when applying our peel-and-stick wallpaper, as it may not adhere properly on textured surfaces and the texture might show through the wallpaper.
Although we recommend using it on smooth walls, we've heard success stories from some of our customers who've tried it on slightly textured walls like light orange-peel or light knock-down surfaces. While we don't officially recommend this and can't guarantee how it will perform on such walls, it's an option some have explored with positive results. If in doubt, try out a sample of your chosen design first.
3. Prepare Your Walls
For any application of our peel-and-stick wallpaper, ensure that all surfaces are flat and that there are no visible faults. Fill in any holes and smooth out any bumps so that the aesthetic of the wallpaper is not affected.
Rub down and clean your walls, especially those that are prone to soiling or grease.
Remove any wall sockets and light switches.
4. Prime Your Walls
For best results and easier installation and removal, it’s always a good idea to apply a wallpaper primer, especially on bare drywall. Wallpaper primers can be purchased from your local DIY store, and include items such as Roman PRO-977 Ultra Prime®.
Priming your walls before installation will ensure a smoother surface for the wallpaper to adhere to and helps in positioning and adhesion. It is an especially important step for renters as it drastically reduces the chances of any damage to walls on removal.
5. Get Your Wallpapering Tools Ready
You will need the following tools to apply your peel-and-stick wallpaper:
- A sharp cutting blade
- A tape measure or laser level
- A Wallpaper smoother or squeegee
- A straight edge or metal ruler
- A ladder
- Clean and dry hands
6. Install Your Wallpaper
Now let's make wallpapering your space a breeze:
1. Find a Level Spot: To make sure your wallpaper goes on straight, find a level spot on your wall. This will prevent any chance of ending up with wallpaper at a slightly off-kilter angle.
2. Peel Off the Backing Paper from Your First Panel: Start by peeling off about 10 inches (20 centimeters) of the paper backing from the top of the wallpaper panel.
3. Apply the Wallpaper: Apply the wallpaper at the top of the wall where you found that level spot. Gently smooth it downwards from the top with a squeegee or wallpaper smoother. Work in 10-inch (20-centimeter) sections and gradually peel off more backing as you go. This step-by-step approach helps avoid air bubbles and allows repositioning within 24 hours if needed.
4. Smooth it Out: Use a squeegee, wallpaper smoother, or dry cloth to smooth out the wallpaper and remove any air bubbles.
5. Apply the Second Panel: Our peel-and-stick wallpaper doesn't require overlapping since it won't shrink over time. Place the second panel on the edge of the first panel, not on top of it.
6. Repeat: Repeat steps 1-5 until you have covered the entire surface of your wall.
7. Cut Off Excess Material: Once all the wallpaper panels are applied, trim any excess material at the bottom of each panel ensuring a level finish. Cut around any light switches and sockets.
8. Final Smoothing: To ensure a secure bond, give the wallpaper a final smoothing with a clean soft cloth. We recommend doing this again after 2 days and once more after 2 weeks to ensure the wallpaper sticks perfectly to the wall.

How to Remove Your Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper
1. Locate a Starting Point:
Begin at a corner or seam where you can get a good grip on the edge of the wallpaper.
2. Peel Off the Wallpaper:
Gently peel back the corner of the wallpaper at a 45-degree angle. Go slowly to avoid overstretching it.
3. Apply Heat (Optional):
If you feel resistance whilst peeling off the wallpaper, use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the area you are working with. This will weaken the adhesive for an easier removal.
4. Scrape and Remove:
As you peel off the wallpaper, use a plastic scraper to lift and loosen it from the wall. Work downwards in small sections.
5. Remove Adhesive Residue:
Once the wallpaper is off, there may still be adhesive residue on the wall. Clean it by scrubbing it with warm, soapy water and a sponge or cloth.

How to Care for Your Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper
1. Clean Marks
In most cases, our peel-and-stick wallpaper can be cleaned with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge that has been dampened with water. Make sure that all water is squeezed from the cloth or sponge and gently wipe the affected area until clean, applying minimal pressure.
In case of deeper stains, soapy water on a soft, non-abrasive sponge can be used. Gently wipe at the affected area, being sure not to rub with too much force so as not to damage the design.
If you have any queries, please contact our Customer Care Team.
2. Avoid Direct Heat and Sunlight
We recommend that our peel-and-stick wallpaper is for indoor use only. In order to avoid excessive fading over time, we don’t recommend installing our wallpaper in glass-roofed or glass-walled rooms which are prone to persistent direct sunlight.
Our wallpaper is suitable for use in the kitchen and bathroom as it can withstand humidity. Just make sure that all surfaces are clean and free of grease before application. We don’t recommend installing our wallpaper near sources of direct heat or open flame, such as the backsplash to a stovetop.
