Non-Pasted Wallpaper Installation Guide

Our non-pasted wallpaper is printed in set panel lengths with a straight match, so pattern alignment is simple and overlap isn’t needed. With slow, thoughtful steps, installation becomes a calm part of creating your space.

Tools You’ll Need

Wallpaper paste
Roller or paste brush
Wallpaper smoother or plastic squeegee
Utility knife with fresh blades
Sponge and clean water
Tape measure and level
Step ladder
Pencil

Before You Begin

Unroll each panel and let it rest flat for at least six hours, lightly weighting the ends.

This helps the paper relax so it hangs smoothly.

Check your design and panel lengths before starting.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Mark a Starting Line

Using a level, draw a vertical guideline where your first panel will sit.

Start from this line rather than the corner. Most walls lean slightly, and the guideline keeps everything true.

2. Apply Paste to the Wall

With a roller or paste brush, apply an even, generous coat of paste directly to the wall.

Cover an area just wider than one panel.

A smooth, even layer ensures the wallpaper settles beautifully.

3. Hang the First Panel

Lift the first panel into place, aligning the top edge with the ceiling.

Match the side of the panel to your guideline and let it fall naturally into position.

Smooth from the center outward to release air bubbles and help the fibers bond with the paste.

4. Trim the Excess

Use a sharp blade and straightedge to trim the overhang at the skirting board.

Replace blades often for a clean, confident cut.

5. Hang the Next Panels

Paste the next section of wall.

Hang your second panel directly edge-to-edge — no overlap needed, as the material doesn’t shrink with time.

Thanks to the straight match, the pattern aligns easily from the top down.

Smooth seams gently to ensure they sit flush.

6. Wipe Away Paste Residue

Use a damp sponge to gently remove any paste from the seams or surface.

Wipe as you go. Paste is easiest to remove while still fresh.

7. Let It Dry

Allow the wallpaper to dry naturally at room temperature.

Avoid heat sources or humidity. The calmer the conditions, the cleaner the finish.

Pro tips

Slow, steady installation gives the most seamless result.

Keep a fresh utility blade on hand for crisp trimming.

Always check seams for paste before moving to the next panel.

Sockets & Switches

Turn off power at the breaker before you begin.

Remove faceplates so you can hang the wallpaper cleanly over the opening.

Cut a neat “X,” trim to the inner edge, then replace the plate for a polished finish.

Wallpaper Care

A little gentle care will help your wallpaper stay beautiful for years to come.

Dust lightly with a dry microfiber cloth whenever needed.

Spot-clean gently using a soft, damp cloth. Avoid scrubbing or soaking the surface.

Protect from moisture — in humid rooms, ensure good ventilation so the paper can breathe.

Check seams occasionally and smooth them lightly with clean hands if they ever lift.

Avoid harsh cleaners, chemicals, and abrasive tools, as they can mark or weaken the surface.

Calm, occasional upkeep is all that’s needed to keep the texture, colour, and finish looking fresh.
